As a big fan of C-Dramas and Donghua, I've signed up for every platform that offers them with English subtitles. I thoroughly enjoyed series like "Joy of Life" and "Princess Agents," both of which have bittersweet endings. This inspired me to read the novels associated with these dramas.
While searching for these novels, I came across several websites offering them. Some sites provided free access, while others required payment after a certain number of chapters. My main focus was on "Joy of Life" and "Princess Agents," and I found unofficial English translations on many sites that were poorly done, filled with numerous typos and mistakes. I do appreciate the effort, though; without those translations, I wouldn't have had any chance to read the novels at all. However, it was definitely cringeworthy, I can't deny that.
Most Chinese web novels are translated with AI technology, making it clear that no human has proofread or edited them. As a result, the translations often have typos, grammatical mistakes, and inconsistencies. Because of this, I frequently felt disappointed while reading. I found it hard to grasp the intended meaning behind the text compared to what I was actually reading.
For over a decade, I have been a book reviewer for American indie and non-indie authors. It was enjoyable until it stopped being so, so I moved on to other projects. I have always loved reading, but it was during the COVID pandemic that I developed an interest in Chinese and Korean dramas, which I discovered on YouTube. Being naturally curious, I found a few platforms that I happily subscribed to. From there, I wanted a place to easily find old, new, and upcoming Asian dramas, and I stumbled upon MyDramaList. It provides a lot of information, and with the titles of the novels that inspired the dramas in the description, I easily find websites where I can read Asian novels. The rest is history—I became completely hooked!
As someone who loves re-reading my favorite stories, I decided to edit and proofread, and enhance the English versions of those novels. I focus on fixing grammar, typos, and confusing phrases and pronouns while keeping the original Chinese text's essence. I revise content, chapters, titles, and sometimes reorder paragraphs to improve the story's clarity. I add some endnotes when I find it necessary. Given the length of these novels, I sometimes struggle to keep track of all the characters. To make it easier, I created some character lists.
I always strive to faithfully respond to the original author's work. However, bilingual readers fluent in both Chinese and English might notice some differences, as each language has its own cultural references. While I don’t claim my work is flawless, I take pride in proofreading and editing every word and chapter, prioritizing quality over speed.

Web novels can have hundreds or even thousands of chapters, and many are still ongoing by the original authors. I have several novels in progress, but I also have a life outside of this, and I do not earn any money from it. Producing quality editions takes considerable time and effort.
