LONG CHARACTER LIST

 

There are some differences in character names between the TV drama and the novel. This is due to censorship intended to avoid associating the characters with Chinese history. As a result, you may notice discrepancies in the names listed on platforms like Wikipedia.

The novel includes hundreds of characters, making it challenging to keep track of everyone during the initial reading. Some characters appear throughout all seven volumes, so the information in this character list may vary depending on when you consult it. Additionally, certain details about their roles in the story could be considered spoilers.

Main Characters

Fan Xian
-An Zhe-
(Fan Shen)

Fan Shen died in the 21st century at the age of 30. As a two-month-old baby in a new Chinese feudal world, he was reborn as Fan Xian, retaining all memories from his previous life. He is a genius in both intellect and martial arts. Fan Xian is the adopted son and successor of Chen PingPing’s Overwatch Council. He is also the illegitimate child of the Emperor and Ye QingMei and half-brother of the Li princes.

Emperor of Qing

Emperor Li Cheng is his father. He is the eldest son of the Empress Dowager, and his wet nurse is Fan Jian's mother and Fan Xian's grandmother. He has four legitimate sons from various concubines, an empress, and one illegitimate son, Fan Xian, born to his mistress, Ye QingMei. Li Cheng resides in Xingqing Palace, part of the larger Taijin Palace complex.

Fan Jian

Count Sinan. Minister of Revenue, the biological father of Fan Ruoruo and Fan Sizhe, and the adoptive father of Fan Xian. A childhood friend of the Emperor and Chen PingPing. Unconditionally supportive of Fan Xian.

Chen PingPing

Director of the Overwatch Council, an investigative agency that monitors other governments under the direct authority of the Emperor. 50-60 years old Eunuch in a wheelchair. Since childhood, he followed the Emperor of Qing and is considered the second most powerful person in the Qing empire. He worshiped Ye QingMei; He appointed Fan Xian as his successor. He is a genius planner and manipulator. In modern days he would be ranked with a very high IQ. Chen PingPing knows Fan Xian’s origins. Unconditionally supportive of Fan Xian.

Wu Zhu

A former servant of Ye QingMei, he is now the presumed 5th Grandmaster. He is loyal only to Fan Xian. Ye QingMei helped him escape the Temple. He never shows emotions on his face. He does not get old. He is feared by everyone who knows him except Fan Xian, who considers him his teacher, elder brother, and protector and calls him ‘Uncle.’ He lost most of his memory when Ye QingMei was assassinated. The Emperor calls him ‘Old Wu’. Unconditionally supportive of Fan Xian.

Li Chen

(YiChen or Chen’er)

Fan Xian's wife. Princess (honorific title given by the Emperor). The illegitimate daughter of Elder Princess and Prime Minister Lin Ruofu. She has tuberculosis. She was not recognized by her father Lin Ruofu. However, being the daughter of the emperor’s sister, she was adopted and given the princess title by the emperor. Therefore, her last name is Li and not Lin. Throughout the story, she is called Chen’er by her ‘brothers’ and Wan’er by everyone else. ‘er after a given name is a term of affection.  She was raised in the palace and is beloved by all the harem.  Unconditionally supportive of Fan Xian.



Qing Empire: Fan family

Fan Jian
Count Sinan

Count Sinan is the (Vice) Minister of Revenue and the biological father of Fan Ruoruo and Fan Sizhe, as well as the adoptive father of Fan Xian. He is a childhood friend of both the Emperor and Chen PingPing.  Although he does not have a concubine, he is committed to one woman, Lady Liu, who is destined to become his main wife. Count Sinan is highly intelligent and gained the Emperor's favor when the Emperor aimed to eliminate rebellious nobles, five years after Ye QingMei’s death. His primary concern is his family and clan, and he respects the Emperor. Additionally, he does not want Fan Xian to be involved with the Overwatch Council. He considers Fan Xian his son and is unconditionally supportive of him. Fan Jian knows Fan Xian’s origins.

Fan Ruoruo

She is the daughter of Fan Jian and his deceased first wife. She is two years younger than Fan Xian and three years older than Sizhe. She unconditionally supports Fan Xian, whom she views as her mentor. More mature than her peers, she has been influenced by Fan Xian to adopt a modern way of thinking. Fan Xian loves her dearly. The Emperor decided to marry her to Prince Hongcheng, who had loved her since childhood. She will play a key role in volume 7.

Fan Sizhe

He is the son of Lady Liu Shi and Fan Jian. Five years younger than Fan Xian, he is a genius in accounting. Initially raised as a spoiled child, he underwent a significant change due to Fan Xian's influence and his sister's disciplinary actions, which taught him to respect his brother. He acknowledges Fan Xian as his older brother and holds him in high regard. He has a naïve outlook when it comes to politics and family struggles and does not aspire to be the heir of the Fan family, unlike his mother. Instead, he wholeheartedly supports Fan Xian.

Lady Liu Shi
(Main Wife Fan)

Fan Jian took her as a concubine 5 years after his first wife’s death (Ruoruo’s mother). She is a cousin of Concubine Yi Guipin from the distinguished Liu family. With no official wives and harem, she serves as the primary wife despite not holding the official title. She loves her son and is devoted to her husband, Fan Jian. Initially resentful of Fan Xian, she eventually comes to accept him as the Young Master, recognizing his significance for the future of the Fan clan.

After the deaths of Fan Xian's mother, Ye QingMei, and Ruoruo's mother (Fan Jian’s first wife), she became known as Lady Liu. Fan Xian negotiated with his father and the Empress Dowager to officially change her status to Main Wife Liu, which took effect with Fan Xian's marriage to Lin Chen.

Nai Nai
(Grandmother Fan)

Fan Jian's mother was the Emperor's wet nurse. She retired in Danzhou and unconditionally supports Fan Jian and Fan Xian. She is not involved in politics.

Sisi (maid)

She is two years older than Fan Xian and is his maid in Danzhou. Later in the story, her status changes, and she becomes his concubine. She is capable of reading and writing and unconditionally supports Fan Xian. She will become Fan Xian’s concubine.



Fan Xian's subordinates 

Wang Qinian

A middle-aged clerk from the first bureau at the Overwatch Council. He met by chance Fan Xian, who took him for a liking and became his right hand and confident. He will build the Qinian unit, which will only be loyal to Fan Xian—expertise: tracking and speed. Fan Xian nominated him to take over from the temporary spymaster, Yan Bingyun. They never became friends, but he is the most trusted advisor and very loyal.

Ga Dao

Fan Jian gave this Head Guard with six other guards to protect Fan Xian during his journey to Qi Empire. He became Fan Xian's trusted bodyguard when he stayed in Jiankang. Level 8 martial

Teng ZiJing

Fan Jian sent him to Danzhou to accompany Fan Xian to the capital. He became Fan Xian's aide. He was seriously injured during an assassination attempt while defending Fan Xian. He was sent to a Fan country estate for a few years to recuperate. He was a loyal servant.

Eunuch Hong Zhu

A young eunuch gained favor with the Emperor and was later sent to serve the empress. He became subordinate to Fan Xian after he avenged the murder of his family. To save his brother, he became a palace eunuch, sacrificing his freedom and manhood. He is Fan Xian's hidden pawn in the palace.

Ye shopkeepers

Ye Qinmei’s subordinates successfully trained, to become the best merchants in the Qing Empire. They do not have a given name but numbers like 7th Ye, 5th Ye etc. Due to their mistress’ assassination, they were not authorized to have their shops and step out of the Capital, being kept alive only because they were the last people knowing all the secrets of fabrication of what created Ye Qinmei. For two decades, they helped the rich noblemen in their business. They played allegiance to him once Fan Xian was recognized as her legitimate son.

Deng Ziyue

Took over the place of Wang Qinian during his temporary relocation to Qi Empire. It took a little bit longer to train Deng Ziyue as he was not as in sync as Wang Qinian, but he is extremely loyal and will remain and become a great aide.

Sang Wen

She is a talented singer and instrumentalist. She met Fan Xian before his wedding at the Palace Lake Camp Gateway. Although she was compelled to entertain customers at a brothel, Fan Xian came to her rescue. Later, she became a madam and married one of Fan Xian’s four disciples. Throughout this time, she was never a prostitute; she remained a loyal subordinate and became a spy for him.

 




Overwatch Council  

Chen PingPing

Director of the Overwatch Council, an investigative agency that monitored other governments under the direct authority of the Emperor. Ye QingMei established the Overwatch Council to balance the Emperor's authority and prevent him from becoming a dictator. Chen PingPing believes that Ye QingMei's son, Fan Xian, is his spiritual son and has appointed him as his successor. Unconditionally supportive of Fan Xian.

The First Bureau specialized in monitoring the bureaucracy in the Capital and planted spies in each critical department. It was the most crucial bureau of the Overwatch Council. The previous head was Zhu Ge, who had secretly collaborated with the Elder Princess and died some months ago.

The Second Bureau was responsible for gathering and analyzing intelligence and strategy and devising plans for the Emperor and the military. Yan Bingyun will hold this position.

The Third Bureau specialized in manufacturing drugs, poisons, and all kinds of secret weapons. The knockout drops, poisons, and aphrodisiacs that Fan Xian kept on his person resulted from the work of the Third Bureau but mostly because Master Fei Jie was Fan Xian’s teacher in Danzhou.

The Fourth Bureau specialized in monitoring the bureaucracy outside the capital, and the related work of intelligence gathering, investigation, and arrests. Its authority extended outside national borders, including Northern Qi and Dongyi City. Regarding the scope of its jurisdiction, it was the most powerful bureau next to the First Bureau. Yan Ruohai held the position for over 15 years before retiring to pass it on to his son.

Black Knights

The Fifth Bureau of the Overwatch Council had always been stationed outside the Capital. It had been established on the orders of the Emperor, and comprised of the Black Knights, responsible for ensuring Chen PingPing’s safety. It could also travel long distances to mount a surprise cavalry attack when necessary.

The Shadow

The Sixth Bureau was the least well-known yet most fearsome of all the departments. It specialized in carrying out the work of secret assassinations. Of course, from another perspective, the Sixth Bureau was responsible for protecting those appointed by the Emperor.

The Seventh Bureau was responsible for interrogating enemy prisoners. It was more specialized than the thirteen offices of the Ministry of Justice.

Xuan Jiu

Head of the eighth bureau of the Overwatch Council, the branch in charge of publication of books. Experts in everything book-related and publication from conception to content. Responsible for addressing misinformation among the commoners, nobility, and officials.

 

Qing Empire: Imperial family  

Empress Dowager

Imperial Mother. Mother of the Emperor. The Empress Dowager of the Qing Dynasty is the mother of three children: the Emperor, Elder Princess Li Yunrui, and King Jing. She unconditionally supports the Emperor and favors the Crown Prince. She resides at Hanguang Hall.

Emperor of Qing

Li Yunqian is the ruler of the Southern Qing Empire. He is the eldest son of the Empress Dowager, and his Grandmother Fan was his wet nurse. He has four legitimate sons from various concubines, an empress, and one illegitimate son, Fan Xian, born to his mistress, Ye QingMei. He resides at Xingqing Palace.

Elder Princess
Li YunRui

The Elder Princess is the Emperor's sister, the Empress Dowager's daughter, the princes' aunt, and the mother of Lin Wan’er. She had a liaison with Prime Minister Lin Ruofu, which resulted in an illegitimate daughter. After Ye QingMei's death, she took control of all her assets, becoming part of the Royal Treasury. She resides at Guangxin Palace. She hates Fan Xian.

King Jing
-Li Zhi-

King. The current Emperor's younger brother has two children, Li Hongcheng and Róu Jiā. He is passionate about gardening and curses/swears a lot. He is not interested (or chooses not to be interested) in politics or the throne, but he is very astute and strongly supports Fan Xian.



Qing Empire: Imperial Harem  

The Empress

Mother of the Crown Prince. She resides in the Yaohua Palace. Consider Fan Xian a treat and conspire with Elder Princess. She supports her son unconditionally.

Imperial Noble Consort Shu

Mother of the second prince. The equivalent of a scholar (no female scholar in old China). She admires Fan Xian but supports her son. She dislikes politics and internal harem conflicts.

Noble Consort Yi Guipin

Title Guipin. The mother of the third prince and Liu Ruyu's younger cousin (Fan Jian’s concubine). Very supportive of Fan Xian.

Lady of Talent Ning

The mother of the eldest (first) prince hails from Dongyi. Her foreign heritage prevents her son from being in line for succession. She respected and liked Ye QingMei. Supportive of Fan Xian.



Qing Empire: Princes and Princesses 

Li Chen
(First Prince and King)

The eldest prince, named king by the Emperor due to his battle successes, cannot be in the line of succession because of his Dongyi lineage. He is a general and soldier at heart. He is also named king as compensation for not being the chosen crown prince (the legitimate choice of the firstborn son). With time, he will be come very close to Fan Xian.

Li Chengqian
(Crown Prince)

The Crown Prince of Qing is the third eldest prince by birth order. He was appointed the position and the title of Crown Prince by the Emperor at a very young age and resides in the East Palace. He wishes Fan Xian to become his follower. Fan Xian will ultimately use his secret.

Li Chengze
(Second prince)

The second prince of Qing, born to Noble Consort Shu, is a direct competitor for the line of succession. He is exceptionally handsome, charismatic, and intelligent, sharing many traits with Fan Xian. Although he desires for Fan Xian to become his follower, Fan Xian views him as an enemy due to his involvement in an assassination attempt.

Li Wenyun
(Third prince)

He is the youngest prince of the Qing, 9 years younger than Fan Xian, who will be his teacher. He is the fourth prince by birth order, but the Crown Prince is excluded from the ranking. He will always support and respect Fan Xian.

Li Hongcheng

King Jing’s son is the Emperor’s nephew and a close friend and cousin of the Second Prince. He missed the opportunity to become a true friend of Fan Xian.

Li Róu Jiā

Princess. The daughter of King Jing. She is 5 years younger than Fan Xian. She is obsessed with Fan Xian after reading Dream of the Red Chamber. Ultimately, she will not join Fan Xian’s household.

 

Qing Empire: Elder Princess subordinates 

Yan Xiaoyi

Commander of the palace guard. He is the only 9th-level archery martial artist, according to Wu Zhu. Loyal to Elder Princess Yunrui. He has a son. He hates Fan Xian.

Wu Bo’an

A bad guy who frequents the rich and offers his services to murder or do bad things by monetizing his services. He is involved in the attempted assassination of Niulan Street with Lin Gong. Wu Zu killed him. Elder Princess's go-to follower


 

Qing Empire: Crown Prince subordinates  

Guo Baokun

An official who became jealous of Fan Xian and tried to humiliate him. Fan Xian proved him wrong by delivering a poem at Prince Jing's gathering. Additionally, Fan Xian taught him a physical lesson, which led to a court inquiry. Consider Fan Xian, his enemy.

Guo Youzhi

The Minister of Rites, Guo Baokun's father, holds a grudge against Fan Xian since he defeated his son. Guo Baokun was arrested on the Emperor’s orders due to the cheating scandal during the Imperial Examination, which Fan Xian initiated.

Xin Qiwu

The head of the Honglu temple officials is fourth-ranked. He is the top official representing the Southern Qing empire during negotiations with the Northern Qi and Dongyi delegations. He wishes Fan Xian to become an ally of the Crown Prince.


 

Qing Empire: Second Prince subordinates 

Prince Li Hongcheng

The Second Prince's cousin and close friend played a significant role in helping him win the support of the nobility and scholars through poetry gatherings. He often spends his time in a brothel because he refuses to marry and has a serious crush on Fan Ruoruo. Unfortunately, he missed the chance to develop a real friendship with Fan Xian. He is King Jing’s son and the Emperor’s nephew.

 

Qing Empire: Prime Minister family

Lin Ruofu

The Prime Minister of Qing is the father of Lin Chen, Lin Dabao, and Lin Gong. He is highly intelligent but has faced misfortune in his personal life. He had a liaison with the Elder Princess, resulting in a daughter he could not recognize. Despite this, he strives to be a good father.

Lin Dabao
(Dabao’er)

Elder son of Lin Ruofu and brother to Wu Bo’an and Lin Chen. He has a mental impairment akin to a toddler's mind. Fan Xan took him under his protection, and he is loved and cared for by both the Lin and Fan clans.

Lin Gong

Second son of Lin Ruofu, brother of Lin Dabao and Lin Chen, Involved in the first assassination attempt in Niulan Street. Wu Zhu killed him.

Princess Lin Chen
(YiChen or Chen’er )

Fan Xian's wife. Princess (honorific title given by the Emperor when he adopted her). The illegitimate daughter of Elder Princess and Prime Minister Lin Ruofu. She has tuberculosis. She was raised in the palace and is beloved by all the harem in the palace. Unconditionally supportive of Fan Xian. Fan Xian calls her affectionally “YiChen” (My treasure). Her father and close friends call her “Chen’er”



Qing Empire: Other characters 

Lady Ye QingMei

She was assassinated 2 months after she gave birth to Fan Xian. Former mistress of the Emperor of Qing. Fan Xian concluded that she also came from the 21st century and was reborn, retaining all her memories like himself. She left an extraordinary legacy to the world. Genius scientist, astronomer, inventor, strategist, martial artist, politician. She never appears in the novel. – READ MORE HERE  -   

Ye Ling

The only daughter of the garrison captain, Ye Zhong. Granddaughter of Ye LiuYun the Grandmaster. Best friend with Lin Wan’er. 7th level martial artist. Obsessed with martial arts. She considers Fan Xian as her master.

Ye Zhong

Commander of Defense. Head of the city Garrison. Father of Ye Ling’er. Son of Ye LiuYun.

Gong Dian

Vice-Commander of the Palace Guards and the Emperor's bodyguard. 8th level martial artist. He fought against Fan Xian at the temple when Fan Xian met Lin Wan’er—disciple of Yan Xiaoyi.

Eunuch Hong Sixiang

Former leader of the palace eunuchs, he is speculated to be the hidden fourth martial grandmaster but is recognized as the ninth-ranked fighter. Now retired, he remains in the palace due to Empress Dowager's grace.

He Zongwei

A poor scholar often argued cases for the aristocrats to gain their support. Ambitious and unrepentant, he gained the Emperor's favor and quickly rose through the ranks of officials. Fan Xian despised and ridiculed him. Revengeful and jealous of Fan Xian, he was a strong opponent at one point (volume 7)

Yuan Hongdao

He was Lin Ruofu's right-hand man and close friend for several decades but ultimately betrayed the Prime Minister (Lin Ruofu). He has been a long-time hidden member of the second bureau of the Overwatch Council.

Ren Shao’an
(Master Ren)

He was once a distinguished man of letters and later became a nobleman, rising steadily to a position within Taichang Temple. He played a crucial role during the Qi and Dongyi delegations. He is a Prime Minister follower and has great esteem for Fan Xian.

Qin Heng

Attaché of the Bureau of Military Affairs.

Ms. Yuan Meng

Madam (pimp and manager) of the Baoyue House (also named Baoyue Brothel). She was a prostitute and associated with Crown Prince Jing.

 

Northern Empire: Characters 

Si Lili
(Princess Li Lisi)

Northern Qi spy planted in the Capital as a top entertainer, aka prostitute. Former princess. Somehow, she remained a virgin. The Overwatch Council used her to poison the emperor of Northern Qi (Operation Red Sleeves). She became the concubine/consort of the Northern Qi Emperor. She has no martial powers. She is the granddaughter of one of the two princes Ye QingMei killed. She is among the most beautiful women in the Qing and Qi empires. Volume 6 will reveal a secret manipulation involving Fan Xian.

Hai Tang
(The Saint)
Duoduo

Disciple of He Ku, upper 9th ranked in martial arts, extremely powerful, and close to becoming a Grandmaster. She has a different kind of Zhenqi, which is related to nature. Her goal is to defend the commoners from wars. She is a close friend of the Northern Qi Emperor, Si Lili, and Fan Xian. Volume 7 will reveal a big secret about her. Volume 6 will reveal a secret manipulation involving Fan Xian.

The Emperor of Qi
(Zhan)

A young Emperor who is very astute in using Fan Xian in different ways, including making a deal to smuggle goods between the Qing and Qi empires. Because of instability in Northern Qi, the emperor disguised her genre and was raised physically and mentally as a boy/man. He/she was raised with Si Lili at the palace. Very few people know this secret, including Fan Xian. Volume 6 will reveal a secret manipulation involving Fan Xian.

Zhuang Mohan

The most famous scholar in Northern Qi, Southern Qing, and Dongyi. He colluded with the Elder Princess and tried to frame Fan Xian during the negotiations with the delegation from Northern Qi. Brother of Xiao En.

Xiao En

Zhuang Mohan's younger brother. Former Northern Qi spymaster for the former Northern Wei Kingdom (territory split in two, Northern Wei became Western Wei and Eastern Wei became Northern Qi). He was captured and imprisoned by the Overwatch Council for over two decades and was exchanged during negotiations with Northern Qi with Yan Bingyun. He helped Ye QingMei escape the Divine Temple when she was 4. He was a powerful 9th-level martial but lost many of his powers in prison because of the poisons injected regularly, which messed with his meridians and Zhenqi.

Shang Shanhu

Supreme General of Huaiyuan or “Tiger general” of Northern Qi who had been fighting barbarians in the northern tundra. He was moved back to the Northern Qi capital by the young Emperor.

Wei Hua

Son of Marquis Ning, who was part of the delegation that visited Qing Capital.

Chang Ninghou 
(Marquis Ning)

One of the two brothers of the Northern Qi Empress Dowager, is a drunkard and womanizer. He met Fan Xian during the delegation to the Capital and the 300 Poems banquet. Fan Xian used him to fake his drunkenness, resulting in the Marquis fainting. Fan Xian used him to gain an advantage over Vice-Minister Wei in the Northern Qi Capital, Shangjing.

Shen Zhong

Provost Shen Zhong of the Discipline Commission of the Brocade Guard. It has the same position as Chen PingPing in Northern Qi but not as powerful. Shang Shanhu assassinated him after Fan Xian departed from the Qi empire.

Friar He

Disciple of Ku He. Ninth-ranked master, master of Cheng Jushu, the seventh-level master. With Lang Tao, he fought with Xiao En during the cliff fight.

Lang Tao

Ku He’s head disciple and the Emperor’s martial arts teacher. Ninth-ranked master. He and the Friar fought with Xiao En and is responsible for his fatal wound during the cliff fight.

Miss Shen

Daughter of Shen Zhong. She escaped when her father was killed and joined the envoy. She was seduced by Yan Bingyun when he was the spymaster in Qi empire. She finally became his wife/concubine. She blames and hates Fan Xian for her father’s death and decides to take her revenge. Whether she followed the envoy for revenge or because she loved Yan Bingyun is uncertain.

Zhang Zigan

Functionary of the Board of Rites. This elderly official sat next to him at the banquet in the palace after the negotiations with the Qi empire and the Dongyi. (The character in the TV drama was grotesque, not in the novel)



 

Dongi: Main characters 

Thirteen (disciple)

Si Gujian head disciple. He is a genius, a 9th-level martial artist with the potential to become a Grandmaster. Top 3 worldwide (Fan Xian, Hai Tang, and him). He has a pure heart and is sent to support Fan Xian by his Master. He becomes his friend and accompanies him on his major trips (volumes 6 and 7)

Yun Zhilan

Si Gujian is the eldest disciple and the ninth-ranked martial artist. He is willing to do everything to protect the disciples and Dongyi. Fan Xian first met him during the banquet at the palace after the negotiations with the Qi empire and the Dongyi.

 

Martial Grandmasters 

He Ku

Qi Empire. Uncle of the young Emperor of Qi. Former monk. Ye QingMei assisted him in becoming a Grandmaster. He has 2 disciples, both at the 9th level.

Si Gujian
(Sigu Sword)

Dongyi (independent) state. Ye QingMei assisted him in becoming a Grandmaster. He has over 100 disciples, more than 10 at the 8th and 4 at the 9th levels. The Emperor and few call him ‘Sigu Sword’ because his disciples and himself favor this weapon of choice.

Yè Liúyún

Qing Empire. Elder of a powerful army clan. He is wandering the Qing empire. He fought and met Ye QingMei, who helped him become a grandmaster. He taught martial arts to his son, Gong Dian, and his granddaughter, Le Ling.

Qing Empire. Everyone knows there is a fourth Grandmaster, but nobody knows who he is except that he may live in the palace—suspicion about old Eunuch Hong Sixiang.

Wu Zhu

Considered as a Grandmaster. He does not use Zhenqi. Very few people know of his existence, but he equals all Grandmasters. His favorite prop is an iron rod, but he can use any pointed object rod.

Fan Xian

Qing—Wu Zhu was his teacher about speed. He is the most powerful Zhenqi user and the only one using his Zhenqi as “Spiderman.”  He is extremely fast. He also learned all the secrets from other masters, such as “coffin breaker,” etc. In Volume 7, he is the next to become a grandmaster. He self-taught martial arts since he was a baby, with the book Wu Zhu left (on behalf of Ye QingMei, his mother) in his bamboo basket. Each time he fights a high-ranking master, he masters his moves. The only one he had trouble with was Hai Tang because she was not using the same Zhenqi. But later, he will master her moves too.

Hai Tang Duoduo

Qi – she is the 2nd in line to become a grandmaster. She uses nature and has a different martial art than Fan Xian.

Thirteen disciple

Dongyi – sword master – is the 3rd in line to become a grandmaster.

Dongyi – sword master.
