Supreme God Emperor - V1C5

Chapter 5

Who is this Genius?

Mo Wen raised his hand and said, "Young man, I have another question." He continued, "The Aperture Refining Pill can assist a martial artist at the body tempering nine-layer psychic realm in condensing their acupuncture points, allowing them to transition into the body tempering ten reunion orifice realm. White silk grass can be used for this purpose. However, for those who have already reached the Aperture Gathering Realm, the refined Aperture Transforming Pill is somewhat less effective, and proceeding further could potentially lead to a hidden injury."

In response, Mu Yun proposed, "Then use Yang Ganoderma lucidum to balance it! You don’t need a whole blood lucidum; a very small portion will do—just what’s worth one money!"

Mo Wen then inquired, "What about the Yang Lingxue Mushroom?"

Upon hearing Mu Yun’s suggestion, Mo Wen experienced a moment of clarity. “Indeed, the Yang Lingxue Mushroom, rich in masculine energy, would enhance the durability of the white silk grass, making it a perfect addition. Although the Yang Lingxue Mushroom is pricier, incorporating just a small amount into the potion would cost around one silver coin.”

"Remarkable! Truly remarkable!" Mo Wen exclaimed, unable to hide his admiration. Dismissing the curious looks from Lu Xiaotian and the other students, he showered Mu Yun with a multitude of questions, all of which Mu Yun answered. The two were so engrossed in their conversation that they appeared unaware of the audience around them.

As their discussion progressed, Mo Wen quickly realized that Mu Yun's knowledge of alchemy far exceeded his own. Every time Mo Wen asked about a specific concept, Mu Yun responded with elaborate elixir recipes that were not only complex but completely unfamiliar to Mo Wen—some of which he hadn’t even come across in his studies. Whenever a suggested approach didn’t produce the desired outcome, Mu Yun swiftly provided alternative solutions, demonstrating his extensive knowledge and flexibility.

For alchemists, the most crucial element of their craft is undoubtedly the elixir formula. An elixir recipe is to an alchemist what lifeblood is to the living; it holds immense value and is revered above all else. Yet Mu Yun seemed to embody the very essence of a living pill, effortlessly reciting multiple alchemical recipes with precision and confidence. The depth of his knowledge was nothing short of astonishing—an extraordinary display of intellect that left Mo Wen both fascinated and humbled.

What, then, can one ascertain about Mu Yun's character? In the grand scheme of the Nanyun Empire, which is home to such a genius, it was perplexing that he had chosen to teach at the relatively modest Beiyun Academy rather than pursuing accolades or opportunities at more prestigious institutions. His humility and dedication to education suggest he might be an extraordinary individual driven not by ambition, but by a desire to nurture the next generation of alchemists.

However, despite the title of ‘master’ that accompanied his position, Mu Yun found the numerous questions being posed to be somewhat vexing. Although this curiosity was admirable, he believed many of the questions were misguided or naive. If they were able to glimpse into Mu Yun’s mind at that moment, they would likely be taken aback—not only by the level of his skill but also by the subtle frustrations that accompany teaching those who have yet to reach his level of understanding.

“Um… Master Mo…”

“Brother Mu, young man…”

“Brother Mo, um… sorry, it’s time for class to end, I’m going home!”

Seeing that Mo Wen had many questions and was taking an unusually long time to articulate them, Mu Yun had long since exhausted his patience. If it weren’t for the presence of the dean and the eager students in the classroom, he would have certainly asked Mo Wen to leave the classroom.

Nearby, Lu Xiaotian could barely suppress his laughter upon hearing Mu Yun’s words. “Class is over? Going home?” he thought, shaking his head in disbelief. He found it amusing that Mu Yun, a low-ranking teacher, was clueless about the significance of Master Mo Wen, the alchemy master revered throughout the entire Nanyun Empire. It was a rare occasion for someone as esteemed as Master Mo to seek guidance humbly, and here was Mu Yun, completely losing his composure over the situation!

Unbeknownst to Mu Yun, the issue at hand stemmed from his past actions, leaving him blind to the gravity of the moment.

“Forgive me, it was indeed abrupt…” Mo Wen replied, embarrassment coloring his cheeks as he hesitated, searching for the right words. “The old man feels a connection with Teacher Mu and wonders if he might visit your home to discuss further?”

“Uh?” Mu Yun’s eyes widened in disbelief at Mo Wen's proposition. He rolled his eyes, realizing that this elderly gentleman was still not satisfied; he genuinely wanted to sit and chat at home now. It felt as though he was expecting to enjoy a lavish meal without contributing a thing!

However, noticing Lu Xiaotian nodding enthusiastically at the suggestion, Mu Yun sighed, his frustration giving way to resignation. “If you want to come, then come!” he declared, waving his hand dismissively. With that, he strode out of the classroom, his swagger unmistakable as he left the students buzzing with excitement over the unexpected invitation.

Mo Wen bent over and hurriedly followed behind Mu Yun, almost trotting to keep up. He looked like an old housekeeper trailing after Mu Yun. Meanwhile, Lu Xiaotian wore a bitter expression as she hurriedly left the classroom to follow them. She felt very frustrated by her inability to grasp Mu Yun's ideas; even Master Mo Wen struggled to comprehend them today.

Still, Lu Xiaotian worried that if Teacher Mu offended Master Mo, he wouldn’t know how serious the consequences could be. Despite the dean having done a commendable job, it would not end well if that happened.

For a moment, Mu Yun led the way, followed by Mo Wen, with Lu Xiaotian trailing behind them. The other students who had just left the class looked on in shock. Was that really the renowned Master Mo Wen from the entire Nanyun Empire? And was that truly Mu Yun, whom they regarded as an incompetent fool?

At this moment, some students began to question their entire understanding of the world!

As they headed back, Mo Wen continued to bombard Mu Yun with questions, eager to clear up decades of doubts. However, for Mu Yun, it felt like a relentless buzzing fly in his ears, which was extremely annoying.

Upon returning home, Mu Yun was aware of his past unpopularity within the Mu family. Ignoring the other members of the household, he headed toward his small courtyard.

Just as Mu Yun was about to enter the courtyard, a strange, mocking voice called out from behind, “Master Mu Yun, your master and several elders of the family are waiting for you in the main hall!”
