Supreme God Emperor - V1C8

Chapter 8

Outrageous!

“Such remarks are unbecoming of an elder!” Just as the second elder finished speaking, Master Mo could no longer restrain himself and interjected.

After brief interactions with Mu Yun, Master Mo had come to recognize him as a true genius in alchemy. He couldn't comprehend why the entire Mu family referred to him as a waste and a burden. Having spent some time with Mu Yun, he developed a deep admiration for him. Therefore, upon hearing the ongoing discussion, Master Mo felt compelled to speak up.

The second elder was momentarily taken aback by this interruption. How dare this old servant of Lu Xiaotian speak out at a family meeting of the Mus? It was utterly disgraceful! He had already faced the backlash of Mu Yunding’s fury and was not about to let this go.

“Old fool, this is a matter for my family—what does it concern you?”

“It’s not that it doesn’t concern me,” Master Mo replied, fighting back. “I am a guest of Young Master Mu’s as well, yet since I entered with him, no one has come to greet me. Is this the standard of hospitality in the Mu family?” He was clearly irritated and unafraid to voice it.

“Furthermore, it was your housekeeper who disrespected Young Master Mu first, and he was right to slap him twice. The way you, as a family elder, unfairly place the blame on Mu Yun is simply unreasonable.”

The second elder merely smiled in response to Mo’s accusations.

“Guest? Dean Lu is a guest. What are you? Just an old servant expecting to be entertained? Old man, get out of my Mu household immediately!”

“Outrageous!”

Before he could finish, a loud roar erupted from behind him, followed by the sound of tables and chairs crashing as dust flew up into the air. Lu Xiaotian stood up from his seat, his face flushed with anger.

“Dean Lu!”

The first and second elders were taken aback by Lu Xiaotian’s sudden outburst. Why was he so enraged over a mere servant?

“Mu Fengqing, you have gone too far!”

Lu Xiaotian pointed directly at the second elder and shouted, “Master Mo Wen is the teacher that Young Master Mu invited to visit! How dare you treat him with such disrespect? I suggest you reconsider your studies at Beiyun College!” His words came out in a furious roar.

“What?”

The Great Elder, the Second Elder, and the others stood in stunned silence, unable to process what they had just heard.

In the entire Nanyun Empire, there was only one Mo Wen, the renowned figure. This unassuming old man, looking rather ordinary, was in fact the deputy dean of the Imperial Nanyun College. Master Mo Wen?

Thump.

The second elder fell to his knees, completely overwhelmed with fear.

“Mo… Master Mo, I apologize! I had no idea you were Master Mo… it was truly…”

“I cannot accept such a false apology!”

Though chided by the elder, Master Mo felt a sharp twinge of irritation coursing through him. He squared his shoulders and replied with a hint of defiance in his voice, “I am supporting Brother Mu Yun on this important visit, and your words do little to sway my conviction. It doesn’t matter how many winters you have weathered or the wisdom you think you possess; your actions have brought only disgrace upon this family.”

“Mu Yun…” The second elder's gaze shifted to Mu Yun, his eyes widening as he wished to strike himself fiercely. How could this waste thing get on the big ship of Master Mo Wen? Even the Emperor of the Nanyun Empire was polite to Master Mo, who is a small second elder of the Mu Jia branch, what a shit!

"Mu Yun, let me intercede for your second grandfather!" The second elder turned to Mu Yun and pleaded.

Intercede? Mu Yun's eyes were cold.

Today, if it weren't for Mo Wen's sudden appearance, I fear that, had he refused and the argument continued, these two old immortals would truly be dealt with by the family law!

"Foster father!"

Mu Yun disregarded the second elder, pushed him aside, and addressed Mu Linchen with a nod: "As for the marriage... I want to take charge myself, so I will step away for now!"

Seeing Mu Linchen nod, Mu Yun swaggered and left the hall.

Master Mo trailed closely behind him, his expression somber and tight-lipped, revealing the burden of deep thoughts. The lines on his forehead creased with concern, and the corners of his mouth turned down slightly, giving his face a stern and unwelcoming appearance.

As for Lu Xiaotian, his face had already turned ghostly pale, and his color drained as he stood, "Patriarch Mu!" Lu Xiaotian stated as he departed, "Since Mu Fengqing holds such disdain for the imperial master, my little Beiyun Academy will no longer admit children from the second elder's family. They can decide on a day to learn from the Hui nationality instead!"

Shaking off his sleeves, Lu Xiaotian turned and walked away. If it weren't for Mu Yun, he wouldn't even allow the entire Mu family's children to study at Beiyun College.

Hearing what Lu Xiaotian said, the second elder sat down on the ground. They were ruined!

The teachings at Beiyun College surpass those of any family by a considerable margin. If, in the future, one's own children cannot gain admission to the institution, the influence of the family line will gradually diminish...

"Mu Yun..." The name Mu Yun echoed in his mind, and the expression of the second elder grew increasingly somber.

"Patriarch Qin, this..."

"There's no need to elaborate, Master Shepherd. Yao Er has been unwell since childhood and is unlikely to live past twenty. As for this marriage..."

"Patriarch Qin, wait!" Mu Linchen interjected apologetically. "I had no idea that Master Mo Wen would visit my home today, and Yun Er is not behaving like herself. I will discuss this with him tonight. I believe we can come to an agreement on the marriage!"

"Good, very good!"

"Then please don't take up too much of your time today, and let’s not keep Master waiting..." Mu Linchen said with a courteous smile as he ushered the guests out.

As Qin Shiyu and Qin Mengyao stepped outside the grand Mu residence, the imposing gates creaking shut behind them, Qin Mengyao glanced up at her grandfather with a curious expression. “Grandpa,” she began, her voice filled with intrigue, “Uncle Mu mentioned during our visit that Mu Yun is inherently dull and that there are persistent rumors floating around Beiyun City, labeling him a nerd and a fool. But from what I observed today—his keen insights during the discussion and the way he carried himself—I must say, Mu Yun seems quite impressive!”

“Haha…” Grandpa Qin chuckled heartily, his eyes gleaming with amusement. “I’m starting to think those rumors swirling around about Mu Yun are vastly exaggerated. Just consider it for a moment—would a dullard really have the audacity to stand up so boldly in that grand hall today? A supposed incompetent fool? I simply can’t buy into that notion. Master Mo, known for his discerning taste and sharp judgment, wouldn’t bother to cast his gaze on someone labeled as worthless! There must be more to Mu Yun than what people are saying.”

"That..." Qin Mengyao was puzzled.

"In that case, why is Mu Yun's reputation in Beiyun City so bad?"

"Mu Yun hails from an imperial lineage, being the son of the clan's patriarch. The drastic change in his demeanor today suggests that he has been keeping a low profile for some time."

Upon hearing her granddaughter's concerns, Qin Shiyu reassured her: "If your marriage is successfully arranged, perhaps Master Mo Wen can help with your unusual illness. I hope Master Shepherd can help facilitate this union!"

Qin Mengyao sat quietly in the carriage, reflecting on Mu Yun's earlier compliments. She couldn't help but feel frustrated by the irony of the situation. She wore a veil that concealed the delicate features of her face. Although Mu Yun had called her a beauty, he had never actually seen her face; he couldn’t possibly know if she met that standard.

In her culture, girls did not choose their husbands, and they often had little opportunity to speak with or even see them before marriage. At least she was fortunate to have glimpsed him. He was still young and showed no physical imperfections.
