Supreme God Emperor - V1C6

Chapter 6

Qin Mengyao

Mu Yun, now fully aware of the memories associated with this body, recognized the voice calling to him from behind. It belonged to Mu Qian, the steward of the Mu Jia branch family in North Cloud City. This old man was a fitting example of his name—Mu Qian was solely focused on wealth, clearly blinded by his pursuit of power.

Mu Yun was aware that, despite being assigned to the North Cloud City branch, his family supported him with a monthly allowance for his everyday expenses. At first, a portion of this allowance was used to cover animal husbandry costs, but eventually, they ceased sending him any money at all.

In the past, Mu Yun was dull and timid, aware of his low status and reluctant to speak up. However, he was no longer the same person.

“What do you want?” Mu Yun asked, his expression cold and impatient.

“What do I want?” Mu Qian responded, hands resting on his belly, looking down at Mu Yun with disdain. “You’re such a bonehead. The patriarch and several elders have arranged a marriage for you. Just go meet the girl, pick a date, and get married. It’s really a hassle for me to deal with this kind of trivial matter.”

Mu Yun smirked. At nineteen, Mu Yun was indeed of marriageable age. However, the fact that his family was arranging it for him only raised his suspicions. He was all too aware of the lowly position the former Mu Yun held within the Mu family branch.

“What are you just standing there for? Hurry up! Trash! Why are you so happy about the family setting up a marriage for a cheap bone like you?” Mu Qian snapped, unable to contain his frustration.

Mu Yun’s unusual demeanor caught Mu Qian’s attention; he typically complied without a fuss, but was different today. Lu Xiaotian and Mo Wen, who stood behind Mu Yun, couldn’t help but frown at the scolding. After all, Mu Yun was supposed to be a young master, and it was humiliating to see him berated by someone of a lower standing.

Mu Yun smiled bitterly as he stepped forward to face Mu Qian. The physical body is a realm of intense refinement! he thought. How dare he speak rudely to me! Taking another step closer, Mu Yun rubbed his palms together.

Slap!

Out of nowhere, Mu Yun struck Mu Qian across the face, the sharp sound of the slap echoing in the sudden silence that followed.

Mu Yun raised his hands, leaving a red imprint on Mu Qian's face, causing his cheeks to gradually swell. "You... do you really dare to hit me?"

Slap!

Another distinct palm print marked Mu Qian's other cheek, leaving his face completely swollen.

"You’re the one who hit me! Don't forget, I am the young master of the Mu family, while you are just a subordinate. If you ever scold me like that again, it won't just be a couple of slaps!"

With those words, Mu Yun turned to walk away. It’s truly a case of a tiger in Pingyang being bullied by dogs, and a phoenix that loses its feathers being no better than a mere chicken.

How dare a lowly housekeeper call him trash and a cheap bone! Mu Yun realized that his top priority now was to enhance his strength. Unfortunately, this body’s physical condition was really inadequate; the slap he had delivered to Mu Qian had left his hands feeling as if they were broken, causing a wave of pain to course through him.

Clearly, he needed to improve his strength urgently!

Witnessing Mu Yun's determined spirit, Mu Qian looked momentarily stunned by the slap. Meanwhile, Lu Xiaotian and Mo Wen, who were behind him, reacted differently.

Lu Xiaotian, who had always seen Mu Yun as timid and submissive, could hardly believe what she was witnessing today; it seemed Mu Yun had finally transformed.

She never thought Mu Yun would have the audacity to slap Mu Qian. But for Mo Wen, the scene represented something altogether different.

After all, Mo Wen was a six-star alchemist and easily recognized that Mu Yun barely qualified as being at the first level of the Body Tempering Realm. The decisiveness displayed by Mu Yun suggested he was no ordinary person; he clearly possessed a strong personality. Mu Yun was uninterested in Lu Xiaotian's and Mo Wen's thoughts. Instead, he delivered two slaps to Mu Qian and departed. If Mu Qian had decided to retaliate, it would have posed a significant challenge for Mu Yun.

In the Mu family hall, all the seats were occupied. Two individuals occupied the primary seats; one, about forty years old, had slightly graying sideburns, piercing eyes, and a composed demeanor as he conversed amiably. This man was Mu Linchen, the patriarch of the Mu family's branch in Beiyun City. The other was an elderly man clad in black robes, with long, snow-white hair and a short stature.

"Humph. Master Qin, please don't mind my Yun'er; he tends to be introverted and isn't much for conversation," Mu Linchen commented with a slight smile, though there was an underlying concern in his expression. The elderly man, Qin Shiyu, hailing from the prominent Qin family of North Cloud City, replied, "Master Mu, you jest. While Mu Yun might be reserved, my Yao'er is quite the opposite. This marriage between our families serves to send a clear message to certain individuals with ill intentions, keeping the Wang and Diao families in check."

Master Qin took a sip of tea, his gaze drifting to the girl beside him. She was slender, with fair, delicate skin, exuding an aura of gentleness. Her lively eyes sparkled with a mix of mischief and wisdom. She wore a light blue dress that accentuated her figure. Yet, her face was veiled, obscuring her true appearance.

Just then, a laid-back voice rang out in the hall. It was Mu Yun, donning an ink-colored gown with chalk dust on his forehead. His long hair was tied back, and a few strands framed his forehead. With his hands behind his back and an expression of wisdom, Mu Yun strolled into the hall. Upon seeing him, Mu Linchen felt a spark of recognition; for some reason, Mu Yun appeared notably different today.

"Yun'er, this is the patriarch of the Qin family, and this is Miss Qin Mengyao," Mu Linchen said, smiling as he looked at Mu Yun. His gaze completely bypassed the elderly Master Qin, landing instead on Qin Mengyao, who stood nearby.

The girl had an appealing figure. However, her face was concealed by a veil, so her true appearance was impossible to see. If she had a beautiful face to match her figure, she would undoubtedly be a stunning beauty. Mu Yun didn’t want to dim the lights when he was with his future wife; that would just be dull. Additionally, he was quite annoyed by the idea of an arranged marriage orchestrated by his family.

“Foster father, are you looking for a child...?”

“That’s right. The Mu family intends to marry into the Qin family, and I’ve arranged a marriage for you...”

“I refuse!”

Mu Yun cut him off before he could finish his sentence. Although Mu Linchen was the only kind figure in the Mu family toward him, Mu Yun knew well from his memories that he respected this foster father greatly. As a result, even though he felt oppressed by the situation and didn’t want to cause trouble for Mu Linchen, he would often suppress his feelings.

If he chose to ignore the situation, it would not be his concern. However, while Mu Linchen expressed care, the rest of the Mu family held him in disdain. Mu Yun realized that by refusing, he would likely provoke a crowd that would criticize and berate him.
