Chapter 14: K.O.
The elevator button was pressed, and Fatty ran toward the rooftop first.
However, when he arrived, there was no one there—not even a shadow of a
human being! How was this possible?
"CEO Qin," Fatty said, his complexion visibly pale. He turned his head, anxiety creeping in. "Spade Z must be here! I can't be mistaken!"
Saying it was one thing, but finding Spade Z was another. Fatty looked around worriedly. Qin Mo approached, his cold and sharp eyes glancing at a candy wrapper on the floor. It was still clean as if it had just been unwrapped.
"Someone was here," Qin Mo remarked, crushing the candy wrapper under the heel of his black military boot. He stood on the rooftop, looking down over everything, including the campus, resembling a god in his military uniform. "Spade Z is a student,"
Fatty exclaimed, frustration leaking into his voice. "You can tell that from this?"
"Is there any teacher who would be bored enough to eat a lollipop? Your target was wrong from the start," Qin Mo replied, turning his gaze toward him. Fatty felt uncomfortable under the weight of their CEO's stifling eyes.
"Um, you can't really blame me," Fatty said, rubbing his nose sheepishly. "I saw how incredible Spade Z was in action, so I thought he must be a teacher. Who would expect a student to be that skilled?" A student! This was a high school, for heaven's sake! Which student could possibly be good enough to compete with me?
"Fatty, are you looking down on students? I'm a student, and I’m a better gamer than you!" protested Coco, visibly offended as he scratched at the wall.
Suddenly, Qin Mo raised his hand, his eyes shifting to the side, and the scene fell silent. "I hear something." His voice was quiet but carried the weight of an order. He pronounced sharply, "Search!"
The bodyguards in black promptly spread out and began searching the rooftop. Suddenly, someone screamed, "Young Master! It’s in here!" They were pointing at a trash can. Inside lay an iPad Air 2, perfectly fine and nearly pristine, with hardly a scratch to be seen.
The sound was coming from the tablet, and as they got closer, it became clear.
"Spade Z left this?!" Shock flickered in Fatty's eyes. Qin Mo had never picked anything up from a trash can before. He raised his eyebrows and extended his left hand, signaling for a black glove to be presented to him.
"Is it real?" Coco’s eyes widened. "Why did he leave his tablet here?"
Fatty's expression dimmed. "He must have realized we were searching for him and erased all the evidence. How cunning! Don't tell me he was counter-hacking me and played through an iPad!"
"And what if he was?" Coco exclaimed, confused. Did it really have to be a computer? Fatty's expression turned serious. Compared to laptops with standard configurations, an iPad's operating speed is five times slower! If he were using an iPad, can you imagine how incredible he would be with a laptop?"
Coco was completely taken aback. Fatty pondered the implications, his gaze drifting in thought. "I wouldn't even be able to lock in on his rough position. Such a master—why isn't he ranked? Who on earth is he? A... high school student?"
Meanwhile, Qin Mo stood to the side, his slim, long legs casting a delicate silhouette, his eyes deep and cold like an ancient pool. His black-gloved fingertips swiped over the iPad's screen, and suddenly, a word lit up!
"K.O!"
"Did Spade Z leave this, too? Did he know we were looking for him?" Coco carefully observed his captain's face but ultimately didn't dare to ask any more questions.
Fatty nodded slightly, not even daring to look up at his boss.
In that moment, Qin Mo’s intense gaze mirrored the ocean’s mysterious depth at night—both intriguing and intense. Since his birth, he’s always charted his own course, leaving behind those who challenged him.
"Keep looking," he ordered, his voice devoid of warmth, causing all the bodyguards to tense up.
The school's heads fell into chaos!
