Chapter 17: Mother-and-Daughter duo

In truth, it was Qin Mo who could not sleep at all. He remained by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the sparkling cityscape at night. Before him were three high-spec Alien laptops, totaling around 200,000 CNY[i].

Coco sat nearby, still clutching his favorite and essential fluffy rabbit. He had just finished a live streaming session and was unsure whether to stay or leave. As Qin Mo hadn’t spoken, no one felt it was appropriate to leave on their own.

Coco considered the situation and decided to remind Qin Mo, "Captain, it's already 11 o'clock. I think Spade Z knows we're looking for him, so he probably won't show up online. Maybe we should get some sleep first?"

Qin Mo stared at the game page, which indicated that Spade Z had accepted his friend request. If Spade Z was afraid of him, why would he accept the request? Qin Mo tightened his grip on the cigarette, crushing it into the ashtray with a violent clench.

His reply was cold and resolute: "Wait."

The icy tone made Coco shrink back, fully aware that this was the first time the privileged son, his captain, had been outsmarted. It was also the first time someone had hugged him. Now, Qin Mo likely felt the urge to retaliate.

Just let him be, Coco thought. That Spade Z was really bold, deceiving his captain like this, and still daring to accept the friend request. Did he want to provoke Qin Mo even further?

"CEO Qin! I found it!" Fatty burst into the room, excitement lighting up his face. "It must be him! Spade Z!"

Qin Mo looked up at Fatty, his eyes revealing the significance of the news.

Fatty excitedly turned his laptop towards him and exclaimed, "CEO Qin, several internet cafés just experienced simultaneous outages! Most people would think it’s just a coincidence—a virus that hit them. But that’s not the case! Hackers like us know that viruses don’t come and go like that; they don’t disappear without someone cleaning them up. That’s impossible! The most likely scenario is that a hacker initiated an attack! I checked the internet of one café, and I found the issue! It wasn't a virus; someone activated a hidden working mode! In other words, thousands of computers in Jiang City were all operating under one person's control!"

Coco was completely shocked and dropped the rabbit’s ear he had in his mouth. "Is this guy really that formidable?"

"Of course!" Fatty replied, his excitement palpable. "Do you even know what this means? Someone who can do this would rank among the top three hackers nationally! But what’s strange is that nowadays, top hacker bosses use their own laptops to carry out attacks, yet he was using a computer from an internet café! That’s totally Spade Z’s style!"

After hearing this, Qin Mo leaned back, crossing his legs. Emotionlessly, he raised an eyebrow, reminiscent of an ancient king—cautious yet relaxed. "So, which internet café was he at?"

Fatty hesitated, clearing his throat. "There were too many virtual IPs, thousands searching at the same time, and he hid his tracks. I—it was impossible for me to pinpoint it."

Upon hearing this, Qin Mo’s eyes turned cold. Fatty quickly added, "CEO Qin, Spade Z is truly remarkable! I’m no match for him."

Coco, sensing the tension, tugged at Fatty’s sleeve, urging him to stop talking. Can’t you see that Captain is still upset about being tricked? Why would you praise Spade Z right now, you idiot?

Qin Mo stood and picked up a wine glass from the table. He swirled the red liquid inside, which resembled blood and seemed to brim with sinister intent. Standing by the full window, facing away from everyone, he seemed to be contemplating something, as if the entire city were beneath his feet. He then took a sip of the wine, his fair skin turning icy, sending chills to anyone who looked at him.

"He was looking for someone," Qin Mo said, tilting his head slightly, a stream of light seemingly shimmering in his pupils.

Fatty was stunned. "Who?"

"Captain, how do you know he was looking for someone?" Coco asked.

Qin Mo replied coolly, still holding the glass, "Searching with thousands of computers—that's definitely for someone, right?"

Fatty slapped his forehead regretfully. "Exactly, why didn’t I think of that!"

"This thorough search means this person must be Spade Z's next target," Qin Mo stated, his eyes like frozen pools, filled with icy depths. "There will be more to follow. Keep an eye on the latest popular internet news and dig him out!"

"Roger that!" Fatty replied just as Coco, who had been fiddling with his mouse, glanced at his computer and suddenly screamed, pointing at the screen, his voice shaking. "Captain! Spade... Spade Z is online!"
